Rate Methodology

Exactly how GoldMap sources, verifies, and publishes gold and silver rates every day.

Where our rates come from

GoldMap's benchmark gold rates are compiled from publicly available market rates for gold and silver.

We compile daily gold and silver rates from publicly available market sources widely used across the Indian jewellery trade. The rates shown on GoldMap are indicative reference figures based on this publicly available information.

Reference source: Publicly available market rates
Rate type: Daily spot rates for Indian market
Basis: International spot price + import duty + GST + local factors

GoldMap is an independent information provider. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any bullion association or exchange, and we reference publicly available market information for general education only.

Gold prices displayed on GoldMap are indicative reference rates provided for informational and educational purposes only. Actual prices may vary by city, jeweller, taxes, making charges, availability, and transaction timing. GoldMap does not provide valuation, pricing, transaction, investment, lending, or financial advisory services. Users should verify rates with their jeweller, lender, or other relevant professional before making purchase, sale, loan, valuation, or investment decisions.

Our daily update process

1

the market publishes morning rates

Market rates are typically published between 9:00โ€“9:30 AM IST on trading days. These rates reflect international gold prices, USD/INR exchange rate, customs duty, and GST.

2

We verify and record the rate

Our team checks the published market rates and records them for all metals: 24K gold, 22K gold, 18K gold, and silver. We verify against multiple reference points to catch any discrepancies.

3

City rates are applied

While the national market rate is a benchmark, actual rates in cities vary slightly based on local jewellers association pricing and regional factors. We apply published local adjustments for major cities.

4

All pages are updated every trading day

Updated rates go live across GoldMap every trading day after verification. Each page shows the last-updated timestamp so you always know how fresh the data is.

Why city rates differ

You may notice that gold rates differ slightly between cities โ€” Kochi might show a different rate than Mumbai or Delhi. This is normal and reflects how the Indian gold market actually works:

What our rates do not include

The rates shown on GoldMap are pure metal rates. They do not include:

Use our Making Charges Calculator to estimate your total jewellery cost including these factors.

On market holidays

On days when market rates are not published (national holidays, market closures), GoldMap displays the most recent available rate. The page timestamp will clearly show the date of the last update so you know the data has not changed.

Report a rate error

If you believe a rate on GoldMap is incorrect, please report it through our contact page. Include the city, date, and the rate you are questioning. We investigate and correct confirmed errors within the same business day.
