Pavan values are quoted in 22K (916) purity because Kerala jewellery is made in 22K. The per-gram rate comes from publicly available market rates, verified each trading day — see our rate methodology. Rates can move in either direction on any day; always confirm the final rate with your jeweller before buying.
Slightly. Kochi and Kozhikode carry the base rate shown above. Thrissur, Kottayam and Kollam typically run about ₹3 per gram higher, and Thiruvananthapuram and Kannur about ₹5 higher — so 1 Pavan there is roughly ₹1,11,040 to ₹1,11,056 today. The differences are small; making charges vary far more between jewellers than rates vary between cities.
The Pavan (also called sovereign) is Kerala's traditional gold weight — 8 grams — used for jewellery, gifting and wedding gold planning. Families count wedding gold in Pavan, not grams.
